Evaluation
Evaluation:
Blank survey here: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/SNYH7NH
Responses for survey here:
Our brief was to re brand a Unilever product and make an advert showing it. I decided to re brand Flora butter and it was voted by my group that we do it. The current target audience of the brand is middle aged people but I decided to re brand it for students 16-24.
We collected the feedback for the advert via a survey sent out to multiple people, unfortunately only 2 people got back to us so it was not a very good feedback. The feedback I got back from survey monkey is 50/50 saying its is really good and really bad. One of the responses said that it was really good and the other said it was no good. One survey was done by a male and the other a female, one of them was not a serious feedback so it cannot be properly used, for example in the comments box they wrote "bush did 9/11". I asked in the survey what age do they think it is aimed at and they said 0-5 and 31-40. We did not get any feedback from the class about our advert as ours was not complete when all the adverts where watched to review. The advert did appeal to the specified target audience in my opinion and I believe it would have an impact on students. Although we faced several problems along the way in the process of making this advert we came over them and made it look pretty decent however one shot is still out of time but we didn't have long enough to re film the shot. At first we taught that we would have to go back and re film all of the shots we had done because we where doing a split screen video. Luckily we worked out how to overcome this problem in post production so that it would look effective. The main problem we faced was the timings of the clip as Kain was doing some shots faster than the adjacent split screen shot, this made the entire video out of time, we went back and filmed thees shots again so they looked better however one of the shots of Kain getting it out of the fridge was still way too fast compared to the other even know they finish at the same time. The sound for the video was made by Kain on Garage Band, I would have liked to have had sound effects in the video but we did not have enough time. I believe the story line is effective enough to sell the product to the specific target audience as students can relate to waking up hungover and struggling to make breakfast... We did not particularly use persuasion techniques to sell the product such as slogans we simply shew the audience that our product was quicker and easier. I wanted to showcase that our product was easier to use and should be universally used by students as it is cheaper and easier to use.
Our final advert is not to dissimilar from our original ideas, a couple of shots where altered but it is mostly as done in the storyboards. I am satisfied with the final advert and I think it fits the brief effectively. If I where to do it again I would have people in my group other than me more involved in the filming, I would also maybe not film at Kain's house as the lighting was not very good in my opinion. I was very much involved in the project from making the storyboards to filming and editing and I believe I have worked well towards the brief.

Edwin S Porter showed that film can be more than one still when he accidentally discovered the film cut when his camera messed up the film and the subject had diapered. He later went on to direct lots of films including the great train robbery and life of an american fireman.1.
D W Griffiths made the first continuity cut when he had moved the camera between shots, as well as this he invented the first close up shot where as before hand all of the shots had been wide angle. He also changed the pace in which films where cut and most of his techniques have not changed much even nowadays such as cross cutting.1.
The Kuleshov effect, Lev Kuleshov invented the montage effect on film in 1920 because he beleived it would be more engaging and understanding to audiences. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jebW5-G2HTs.1.
Nowadays recording and cutting is all done with modern technology as supposed to big film cameras and physically cutting the film, it is all done on computer software although some still prefer the much longer and more expensive process of using film because of how it looks.
Examples of continuity cutting can be seen in every feature film made nowadays such as in this clip from the film snatch.
Establishing shot, this is a shot that shows what is going on, it tells a story and shows the audience the location and characters. You can see this at the start of the film clip until 0:36. In this shot it shows the main character standing at the bar waiting for a pint and some gunmen walking up to him.

pitch post and feedback
Feedback on my presentation:
Good Facts!
Long gaps using urm
Need more info on demographics and psychographics
More information on the advert idea
SPG
More images
Develop speak for re-brand idea
Gain BARB specific figures
This feedback is helpful to me as my SPG is not very good and these bits need to be highlighted to me; i need to also focus on my presentation skills and not say urm after every other word. this has been really halpfull to me and i shall make all the changes that i can to make it better and practice going over my presentation to make my pitch stronger and more effective. I need to research the demographics more extensively and include the physchographics.
pitch feedback + reflections
What did you do well?
I was fairly confident during my presentation especially the part about re-branding; I gave good eye contact with the audience and engaged them effectively. My presentation was easy to read and was displayed well, I didn't have to use my cue cards in he end luckily which meant that I could spend more time addressing the audience.
What would you do differently?
I would talk louder as I was fairly quiet as I spoke, I did not use much body language and i would like to improve on this; also when I spoke sometimes I said it wrong due to being nervous. I would practice more in the future so it would go smoother without me messing up.
What was your feedback?
My feedback was that my idea was good and I had adequate information, I need to be more sure about my idea and correct my grammar.
